Team Member Focus May: Nicola

Book Delivery

Following up on our first ever team-member focus of the month, we caught up with Nicola from Glasgow, who joined the team at the age of 18, as an Operations Assistant. She has been with the company ever since and has worked her way up!

Now we’re finding out about one of longest servicing staff members – discovering her love of TV heartthrob Ian Somerhalder, all the things wrong with porridge and why she thinks she would make a great dog.

What do you do at Eagle Couriers?

I work as the Operations Manager.

How long have you been working at Eagle Couriers?

Quite a while, it is coming up to my fifteenth year with the company.

Do you have any strange delivery stories/ encounters from your time at Eagle couriers?

A couple of years ago a family of blue tits decided to nest outside our Operations office.

But due to the bad weather, the birds decided the best place to nest was in an empty mounted ashtray box on a wall.  They were there for months, laid 4 eggs and all hatched and left!

Needless to say the ashtray was off limits until they vacated – but it was lovely to watch on a daily basis, two little blue tits darting in and out providing for their nest.

What do you most enjoy about working at Eagle Couriers?

I really enjoy the people and the business – it is a fast paced, busy office that allows for a lot of interaction with customers, not just face to face but across lots of different social media as well.

What’s something unexpected about you?

I started working here when I was 18 and just looking for a job. I didn’t expect it to turn into a career!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have two young girls, Grace who is six and Olivia who is one, so we do a lot of outdoor activities.

What’s one food that you can’t stand?

Porridge! I dislike everything about it: the look, the smell, the taste!

But I do love pizza!

If you could live inside the world of any book/ TV / series or film which one would it be and why?

I love the television show The Vampire Diaries (especially the lead, Ian Somerhalder – he is gorgeous!).

So I would live in that television show just to be closer to him.

What kind of animal do you think you’d be?

I think I’d most likely be a dog. I have lots of similar characteristics, I’m loving, loyal and family orientated.

If you could have dinner with any 5 people living or dead, who would it be and why?

Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics as I love their music;

Robbie Williams from Take That, he is my teenage crush;

Ian Somerhalder – I don’t think I need to explain any further!

Peter Kay so he can keep everyone laughing;

And Jennifer Lawrence because I love her in the X-Men movies.

If you were stranded on a dessert Island and you could only bring three things with you what would they be and why?

Probably my mobile phone and definitely my two girls! I couldn’t be without them and the phone might get someone to rescue us!

If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

I would like to have the power of invisibility. I could use it to get around without anyone noticing me.

If you could travel to any point in time, where would you go?

I’d like to travel back to when I was in primary school.  Had a great experience in school with friends and having fun.  Most carefree time of my life.

If you could teleport yourself anywhere in the world right now where would it be?

Disneyworld Florida. I would take my girls and we could all enjoy it. You’re never too old for Disneyworld!
