Book Delivery

Last month we introduced you to THS Couriers’ Lorna Smith who discussed her superpower of choice and where she would travel in time.

Taking to the spotlight this month is Eagle Couriers’ Despatch Controller, Gary Robertson, who has moved from THS to Eagle Couriers in February this year.

Gary gave us a rundown on things such as his strangest delivery story, the food he hates and how he would survive on a desert island.

What is your role at the company?

I am a Despatch Controller at Eagle Couriers. I am in charge of sending out vehicles to destinations at appointed times.

How many years have you been working at the company?

I’ve worked at Eagle Courier for 6 months after moving from THS.

What do you enjoy most about working there?

I love that every day is different! One day it can be really busy and manic and the next you can relax a little and take it easy – it’s never the same day twice.

Do you have any strange stories from your time there?

Definitely! One time I sent a driver to pick up a frozen dead dog!

What is something unexpected about you?

Once I was hypnotised into giving up fizzy drinks. You might not believe it but it’s been nearly three years since I have had any!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I really enjoy being outdoors, mainly going hillwalking. I also love spending time and having fun with my kids on my days off.

What foods can you not stand?

Brussels sprouts – but who does?

What kind of animal do you think you would be?

I would definitely be a wolf.

If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be and why?

I would have dinner with the members of my family – my dad would be one, he passed away last year. I’d also love to dine with my grandad, who I actually never got to meet, and my gran. Those would be my three people.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

It would have to be Canada. I would move in a heartbeat – but as long as my kids come with me.

If you could teleport yourself to anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?

Canada!

If you were stranded on a desert island and you could only bring three things, what would they be?

I would bring my knife, a fire steel and a pot to boil water. With these I could totally survive on a desert island.

If you could be inside the world of any book, TV show or film, which one would it be and why?

It would have to be the TV show “Alone”. It’s a reality programme that has contestants try and survive in the wilderness and I think I would be a great contestant. That kind of thing really appeals to me.
