I think it’s fair to say that the Edinburgh tram project has lost the support of the public after experiencing countless financial setbacks and road disruptions.
The project has hit businesses hard after having to cope with the inconvenience of road works and the diversions which no doubt caused additional running costs for many as they had to find alternative routes to their destination.
The new section of the M74 motorway opened earlier this year eight months ahead of schedule and £20 million under budget which makes this whole fiasco look an absolute shambles.
Ultimately nothing can be done now to repair the damage caused by the obstructions but the public are entitled by law to see the details of the government policy and hopefully it is a valuable lesson learnt.
